In 2010 Angels Margarit/Mudances Dance Company offers a retrospective review over their 25 year career. Some of the activities programmed in this project are dedicated to transmission and pedagogy. One of these activities is the Laboratory KOLBEBASAR, a collaboration between La Caldera and Àngels Margarit/Mudances Dance Company. KOLBEBASAR is an emblematic work from Àngels Margarit/Mudances Dance Company’s early period. It’s a piece for 7 dancers first performed in February 1988, with an original music score by Joan Saura and Xavier Maristany. With its minimalist style, the impressive composition propelled the company into the international European circuits. The laboratory revolves around the recovery and analysis of KOLBEBASAR.
We will work on the composition of the piece, analyse its global structure,
the relationship between the different elements it embodies, especially
the relationship with the music. We will focus on the recovery and learning
of different fragments. In order to understand the concepts that shaped
this creation, the participants will be invited to work with the composition
tools that arose from and were used in KOLBEBASAR and also compose new
fragments based on structures, patterns, or compositional ideas that
can be found in the piece. At the end of the laboratory there will be an open showing of the work within the ‘Aula Oberta’ at La Caldera.
