OLGA MESA is a key figure in contemporary Spanish dance, with an artistic trajectory that moves between dance, performance, film, installation, and visual arts. Her work is marked by a deep engagement of the body as a tool for vision and storytelling, with the camera as a constant creative ally. After beginning her career in the United States, she returned to Spain and founded her own company in Madrid, creating works such as Lugares Intermedios and Europas, the latter receiving awards and international recognition.
In the mid-2000s, she moved to France, where she founded the company Hors Champ // Fuera de Campo and entered a new phase focused on collaborative projects, scenic research, and performative actions in connection with artistic institutions and universities. Among her major projects are the thematic series Más público, más privado and LabOfilm&1: El lamento de Blancanieves, which combine body, film, and installation in evolving, participatory formats. She also promotes pedagogical and transmission processes with emerging European artists, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with contemporary arts.
Since 2012, she has co-directed with Francisco Ruiz de Infante an intense phase of collaborative creation through the Carmen // Shakespeare tetralogy, culminating in the long-format piece La Total. Her work has been recognized with the title of Chevalier of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. Recently, she has led projects such as Una Mesa Propia (danza de manos), inspired by the poetry of her mother, and the retrospective RE-VISION(ES) at CGAC. Olga Mesa remains actively involved in new creations and artistic transmission processes on an international level.
