Vardarou
GEORGIA VARDAROU (Athens 1983) graduated from the National School of Dance (Κ.Σ.Ο.Τ.) in Greece and then from P.A.R.T.S. in Belgium. As a professional dancer, she has worked with Salva Sanchis, Marc Vanrunxt, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker/ Rosas, Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt, and Albert Quesada. As a choreographer, she is busy with personal movement, the content that this carries and the intersubjective perception when watching a body moving. Her work has been presented at theaters and dance festivals all over Europe. Georgia lived in Brussels for 13 years. In 2017, she relocated to Barcelona. Her work is produced by Kunst/Werk (BE).
The moment she hovers over the ocean
“The moment she hovers over the ocean” is a duet triggered by a moment of awareness that a fictitious character, Lenina, senses in chapter 6 of the dystopic novel Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. This moment of awareness, sensed within a helicopter hovering over a dark ocean, could let out hope for breaking through constructed realities that feel dystopian to the people that live within them.
I expect this very first step of the creation to be a true research. The main themes are on the table and while these themes keep on branching and deepening, the bodies in space will be assuming forms and constellations. Concepts like “ a moment of awareness” will be sought within the medium of performing arts.
Where dance is happening
