Sesiones remotas

This year, La Caldera will establish a collaboration with el Museo Etnológico where we have been asked to create alongside the expostion Las caras de Barcelona.

We are working with the creator Mónica Muntaner and her team to adapt her last creation Sesiones remotas to the museum space. This is something between an installation and a performance that we consider a good fit with the context of her expository character. It invites a hybrid temporality and establishes a personal, almost anthropological, reflection around the act of dance.

Sesiones Remotas is an installation where we put into play a series of images and recorded interviews of 30 people varying in age and profession that had the experience of dancing in solitude at certain times. At the beginning it proposes an exploration of a hidden narrative that seeks the development of questions without resolve. It also speaks to the appropriation of movements, attitudes, gestures, voices and the construction of a collage of faces, bodies, people and presences.

Through the act of dancing alone for a long time with music that refers to a collective dance context, the participant lives a subjective experience in which he finds himself, his body, his limits and also his strengths. This lasting piece elicits physical sensations, thoughts, memories, emotions and many other feelings that cannot be described with words.
