JOAQUÍN COLLADO. Unfinished artist, caracolista. Topodancer, mime, contortionist, good-bender. He grew up in Villamalea (Albacete) and has been living in Barcelona since 2017. Through his practice, he explores processes to expand the contours of the human, with the desire to embrace multiple corporealities that exist within the spatial, the monstrous, and the poetic.
In 2021, he launched the curatorial project Paisaje, a festival of dances in his hometown. Currently, he is developing a research project on shame and dancing, from which an educational project with teenagers and a creative project linked to his Master's Final Thesis in Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities are emerging.
All these unfoldings allow him to imagine the artist he is becoming: one of multiple gestures, bordering between "high and low culture," the academic and the popular, the inside and the outside, the body and the wordiness.

This research, like all things nascent, comes from a placenta of shadow—my relationship with the village, my childhood experience in that place, and my later relationship with dance. To speak to you about this, I will take as a foundational gesture a state of childhood: I remember those moments of intimacy in which I would deeply withdraw, and outside the gaze of the other, I would build worlds within a chickpea and dance, without knowing whether this gesture or that belonged to the category of the feminine or the masculine, of the absurd or the serious, of the ugly or the beautiful, of the human or the animal. That state was pure whim of inner experience.
Today, I can clearly recognize when that external and restrictive gaze descended upon me, clinging to my body, thus shaping me into a shameful subject. The intimacy of those worlds would quickly dissolve when the voyeur’s eye pointed at them as monstrous, idiotic, or shameful. Shame is that thing cast from the outside and introjected into the being, limiting its ability to listen and receive, blushing the gesture when it dares to be something it never promised to be. Shame is the affect that constitutes the Being of those children diverted in their desire and libidinal force, but now the body knows well that the transformational energy of shame is irreducible, unlimited.
Dance arrived not only to soften the breath but also to make shame a fertile and comfortable space. To bite the Being. To blossom.
To blossom, here, is to return to childhood states, to enter intimacy, to let oneself float in stillness. It is also to become idiotic, to the point of losing orientation, to the point of blurring the categories that shape us and the images with which we identify. To bite the Being, not to break it, but to expand it. Here, shame bites. It has skin but no border. It ferments. It dances.

Un pez en pleno fenómeno migratorio del océano al río alto, con el objetivo de desovar para morir, es expulsado del cauce del río por un choque de olas, y queda tumbado en la orilla, aleteando, a unos cuantos metros del agua.
Durante la residencia, el objetivo de trabajo será la investigación sobre el movimiento puro, encontrar nuevas fronteras en base a la linea del trabajo y lenguaje que vengo desarrollando, tanto en esta propuesta coreográfica como en anteriores. Encontrar, ahondando, el movimiento que me es más propio.
